In the Southeast region of Vietnam lies an archipelago named Con Dao which boasts arguably one of the most beautiful sceneries in South East Asia.
I was kindly hosted by Six Senses Con Dao for a weekend getaway where I flirted with the magnificent sea view everyday. Do you know that this was where Angelina Jolie and her family stayed at when they visited Vietnam in 2011?

Six Senses resorts are known to be situated at remote but breathtaking locations. Con Dao is a 45-minute domestic flight away from Ho Chi Minh City, while Six Senses Con Dao is based at a quiet side of the island about ten minutes’ drive from the airport, with its own private beach (only accessible to resort guests) and lush villas. Each villa has an infinity pool and an unobstructed sea view.
Each villa boasts a contemporary yet luxurious design, with most of the furnishing made of reclaimed teak wood and sustainably sourced materials. Guests will be assigned a Guest Experience Maker (GEM) who could help you with your activities, bookings and attend to any of your requests you may have whilst staying at the resort.

I stayed in the Ocean Front Duplex Villa, which was just steps away from the private beach.

You will never go hungry at Six Senses. You could dine at the resort’s restaurant or bar. Alternatively, you could also opt for in-villa dining (aka room service)! Six Senses has a “Chef’s Table Experience” where the Chef will put together a very special menu exclusively prepared for you, as well as in-villa BBQ service with the food prepared, cooked and served to you by the chef and waiter at your villa. The food menu was extensive with a good variety of options ranging from Vietnamese food to international favorites.

The resort has a secluded corner at the end of the beach which has the best view of sunset. I was indeed lucky to be able to visit this piece of unspoiled nature in Vietnam!
Six Senses Con Dao is a luxury, five-star resort with an impeccable service standard. The resort was also very well-maintained, and I noted that our infinity pool was cleaned everyday by a staff member. The service team at Six Senses was very friendly, helpful and spoke good English. This was meant to be a quick getaway, but the warm welcome and beautiful resort experience was truly mind-blowing and memorable.
I would be sharing more on the activities that you could do there – you honestly don’t need to do much with that amazing sea view everyday – as well as my experience at Six Senses spa.
Some tips if you are interested in visiting Six Senses Con Dao:
- May and June is the low season for the resort just before the wet weather, so this is the best time to visit and you could get a room at better rates.
- The villas are private and family friendly. You could go for a short romantic getaway, or have a big family trip there in the three or four bedroom villas.
- Opt for a package with dining included and free breakfast to get better value-for-money, as food options within the resort are costly.
- The domestic flight to Con Dao from Ho Chi Minh could be booked directly via Vietnam Airlines, although you may wish to make a reservation via Six Senses to take advantage of VIP benefits at the airport.
Disclosure: This stay was hosted by Six Senses Con Dao, and I paid for the air fare from Singapore to Vietnam.
